War Mount of Athulua is tied to a simple rule that is easy to overlook: every Warplan must reach rank seven. That means the best approach is not chasing one activity endlessly, but building a routine you can repeat without burning out. Stick with one main character, since Warplan progress is separate for each character. Switching back and forth only spreads your work thin. Before you start, make sure your build can clear content comfortably, and keep useful D4 items ready for smoother runs.
Start With Fast Tree Progress
The Tree of Whispers should be your first stop when you want steady progress. Look for objectives that award five Grim Favors with little travel. The Seething Abomination near Denshar or Alzuuda is a strong choice, and you do not need to be Bloodmarked to fight it. Blood Maiden events are useful too, as long as you have the ritual hearts required for the summoning. Keep an eye on Boss Lair Whispers as well. If Echo of Varshan is active, you can head straight there and collect progress without spending summoning materials.
Pair Objectives Whenever You Can
Good routing matters more than raw speed. Empowered Nightmare Dungeons give better Warplan experience than regular versions, so craft suitable sigils at the Occultist when needed. A sigil linked to an active Whisper is especially valuable because one run handles two jobs. Helltides reward a similar bit of planning. Farm Aberrant Cinders on a tier where enemies fall quickly, then change to your highest unlocked Torment tier before opening chests. Torment IV gives much better progress. The Immortal Ember node can protect your stored Cinders if a death happens.
Use the Warplan menu to travel straight to Boss Lairs and Infernal Hordes.
Run Kurast Undercity without Tributes or Bargains when progress matters more than loot.
Pick a comfortable Pit tier instead of forcing the highest one available.
Keep the Remaining Activities Short
Kurast Undercity is quickest when you move through district portals and ignore fights that do not block your path. Defeat the closing boss and leave. Boss Lairs also scale with Torment, so choose the highest tier you can handle without a slow, risky battle. For Infernal Hordes, use the Warplan menu rather than an Infernal Compass. This opens a fixed six-wave run. Chaos modifiers can shorten the session if Burning Aether is not your priority. In the Pit, watch for Stone Heart or Thieves Curse nodes, which can create useful progress orbs. If the Butcher appears, deal with him quickly or allow the run to end, though completion is needed for the reward.
Refresh a Poor Warplan Board
You are not stuck with an awkward set of tasks. Completing a full board grants a Mark of Eldruin, which lets you refresh the objectives and look for a more practical mix. Use that option when a board demands activities you rarely play or sends you across Sanctuary too often. With a focused character, smart Whisper choices, and quick runs, the rank-seven climb feels far less exhausting. A little preparation, plus sensible D4 items buy planning, can make each session count without turning the mount chase into a chore.
