Forbidden Rites puts a different kind of pressure on Path of Exile 2 characters by linking boss encounters through Ritual clusters. Before spending POE 2 Orbs on another damage upgrade, consider whether your build can survive an extended fight. A character that quickly defeats one isolated target may struggle when overlapping threats leave fewer opportunities to recover.

Build for Damage That Lasts

Burst damage remains useful, but it should not be your only answer. Look at what happens after your opening sequence: whether your main skill stays affordable, whether temporary bonuses expire together, and whether your damage falls sharply whenever you need to reposition.

Favor a damage pattern you can maintain under pressure. Depending on your setup, that might mean persistent effects, independent attackers, or short attacks delivered between movement. The practical test is simple: can you keep making progress without committing to a long, unsafe animation.

Keep Defenses Available Between Attacks

Build around the hits you are likely to take, not just the ones you expect to avoid. Review your resistances, your chosen defensive layers, and your recovery options together. Extra damage offers little value if ordinary mistakes force you into desperate retreat.

Pay particular attention to defensive downtime. If several protective tools expire at once, your strongest opening can lead directly into your weakest moment. Stagger their use where possible, and keep an emergency response available rather than spending every option at the start.

Choose Movement Over Perfect Conditions

A stationary damage setup asks you to identify safe windows repeatedly. That becomes harder when several enemies demand attention. If your character relies on channeling or lengthy attack sequences, practice shorter commitments and learn when stopping early is worth the lost damage.

More mobile setups should still move deliberately. Constantly circling without reading the arena can carry you into another threat. Preserve escape routes, avoid trapping yourself against the boundary, and reposition toward usable space. Apply crowd control where it works, but do not make survival depend on it.

Make Recovery Part of the Build

Resource problems often appear only after an encounter runs longer than expected. Test your main skill without assuming every temporary bonus remains active. If repeated attacks empty your resources, adjust the setup before adding another expensive damage multiplier. Consistency matters more than impressive opening numbers.

Recovery also needs a realistic trigger. A mechanism that depends on frequent enemy defeats may contribute less during a prolonged boss exchange. Check what supports you when no target falls for a while, and keep your recovery plan workable while moving away from danger.

The strongest preparation is a repeatable combat loop: attack, reposition, recover, and attack again. If you consider POE 2 Orbs for sale while planning upgrades, prioritize the weakness that interrupts that loop rather than chasing a larger damage figure alone.
